Pedigree Comics’ Late July Auction Puts High-Grade Marvels and Magazines Centre Stage
More than 220 CGC-graded comics and magazines are now open for bidding, with all lots offered without reserve or a buyer’s premium.
Pedigree Comics has launched its Late July Magnificent Marvels, Magazines & More Mania Auction, running through Thursday night, July 30.
The two-week event brings together more than 220 CGC-graded lots, including recently certified Silver and Bronze Age Marvel and DC comics, along with more than 100 high-grade magazines.
Every lot begins at just $5, carries no reserve and—importantly for collectors—comes without a buyer’s premium. In an auction market where an additional 20% fee can quickly change the real cost of a book, that is a detail worth keeping in mind.
Freshly Graded Marvels
The comic selection includes a range of Marvel keys and high-grade issues acquired around the Heroes Convention in June. Many were graded by CGC shortly before the auction opened, with numerous examples certified at 9.4 or better and several reaching the top-end 9.8 grade.
For collectors chasing sharp Bronze Age books or high-grade Silver Age material, the appeal is straightforward: recently graded copies, low opening bids and no hidden percentage added after the hammer falls.
Magazines May Be the Main Event
While the auction offers plenty for comic collectors, the magazine selection appears to be its real headline.
More than 100 magazines have been assembled from several collections, including:
A California collection featuring 20 magazines graded between 9.8 and 9.9
More than 20 early Mad magazines in high grade
A further group of high-grade Fantastic magazines
Approximately 25 Marvel magazines from a Northeast collection
The remaining magazine issues from the Massachusetts Collection
High-grade magazines are often harder to locate than their comic-book counterparts, particularly with large formats, dark covers and production characteristics working against them. That makes a concentrated offering of this size worth a closer look.

The auction closes on Thursday night, July 30. Bidding is available through PedigreeComics.com by selecting the auction banner.
Pedigree Comics is also accepting CGC-graded consignments for its August High Grade Silver Age Marvel & DC Auction. Eligible books and magazines should generally have a value of at least $20.
Collectors with raw high-grade material may also use Pedigree’s Raw to Riches service, through which the company arranges CGC certification and advances the grading fees before the items are offered at auction.
Consignments can be submitted by shipping books directly to Pedigree Comics, emailing scans and item details, or using the company’s online Automated Consignment System.
