Pedigree Comics’ Late May Marvels & More Magazine Mania Auction Underway, Ends on Monday Night June 1st!

Pedigree Comics’ Late May Marvels & More Magazine Mania Auction is now underway, running for ten days and ending on Monday night, June 1st. The magazine-only auction features more than 180 CGC-certified lots, including high-grade Marvel magazines and selected titles from other publishers. Every lot is being offered with no reserve, a $5 minimum bid, and no buyer’s premium, which keeps the focus squarely on the final hammer price.

A major highlight is the inclusion of doubles and triples from the well-known Massachusetts Collection, originally discovered in 1993 by dealer Marnin Rosenberg. Pedigree’s Doug Schmell acquired the magazine portion of the collection in the early 2000s, with many of the books later certified by CGC in late 2024. The auction also includes an ultra-high-grade group purchased at MegaCon in March 2026, featuring mostly 9.4 to 9.8 examples from the early-to-mid 1970s, along with issues from the Fantast Collection and early Mad magazines.

Beyond the auction itself, Pedigree is also using the event to promote consignments for its upcoming June Marvel & DC NM/M Grand Auction. The company is positioning its no-buyer’s-premium model as a benefit for consignors, arguing that bidders are often willing to bid stronger when they do not have to factor in an additional fee. Consignors can send books directly to Pedigree, email scans, or upload listings themselves through Pedigree’s automated consignment system.

Overall, this reads as both an auction announcement and a consignment pitch: a showcase of fresh, high-grade magazine material, backed by Pedigree’s familiar message that specialised, themed auctions can give quality books more attention — and potentially better results — than being buried in a broader sale.
